Elder Gargaroth is Unplayable
Keyword soup and great stats. That should be enough right?

Well as it turns out, without Haste or Hexproof, this 5-mana Elder Gargaroth is just garbage in Standard. Everyone knows the old ''it dies to Doom Blade'' saying referring to why a creature will not see play, but in the current Standard, we're well beyond that.

We literally have Doomblade in the form of Heartless Act and it doesn't even see play because what it's good against is already bad against the rest of the format. Teferi, Time Raveler, Brazen Borrower, Elspeth Conquer's Death, Aether Gust ...

It might see fringe sideboard play against Red or Green decks since they don't have such great answers at least? It is kind of sad that such a cool and powerful looking card will end up not seeing play, but it may be decent addition to your Cubes though.

I wish I had more words to describe the phenomenon, but I think this gets the point across fairly well.
