The PTGPPPTQMF Cup Format Announcement

At the end of this calendar year, in December, will take place our biggest event yet. The PTGPPTQMF Cup. What's does it stand for? Absolutely nothing, it's simply a good laugh at the expanse of the naming conventions that changed over the years for the various tournaments held by Wizards of the Coast.

However, it does mean a lot for The Mythic Society players. It's the culmination of a year of doing well in our events, it's our own Invitational.

There is currently 19 qualified players and we expect that there will be approximately 30 by December. We promised two formats at that event. Draft, more specifically Cube and an unusual Constructed format.

Today, we have more details to give you.

Saturday, December 18th

Qualified players, it's time to pin this date to your calendar. December 18th will be the official date of the event. We recommend setting aside the entire day. The event will be live streamed and because of the nature of the extremely interesting formats I'm about to announce, we'll try to give the viewers the show they deserve. That means a bit more tournament delays than usual.

Cube Draft: PREMODERN

We did not specify what kind of Cube theme we would use yet, so there it is. Premodern. The complete Cube list won't be revealed until early December, but it's pretty straight forward. It will be 360 cards from the earliest sets of Magic up until Scourge. It will be powered (Black Lotus, etc) and will be restricted to what's available on Magic Online (of course).

We will be using a third party for the draft portion (www.mtgadraft.tk) which will then let you import your decks into Magic Online.

There will be 3 rounds of Cube Draft.

Constructed Format: Plane Constructed

Innistrad is returning once again and we now have multiple Planes that have been visited at least 3 times. The idea of doing Plane constructed has been thrown around multiple times in our Discord server and I do think that it sounds awesome. With Innistrad: Midnight Hunt and Innistrad: Crimson Vow (which releases in November), there's literally not a better time than December to do this.

The legal sets will be:

Innistrad
Dark Ascension
Avacyn Restored
Shadows Over Innistrad
Eldritch Moon
Innistrad: Midnight Hunt
Innistrad: Crimson Vow

There will not be any banlists.

Following the 3 rounds of Cube Draft, there will be 4 rounds of Plane Constructed + Top 8.

Preparation and Logistics

Both of these format's matches will be played on Magic Online. How will I be able to acquire all the cards for my decks you ask? Manatraders will kindly provide accounts to qualified players for a period of two weeks! From December 4th until the end of the PTGPPTQMF Cup.

Communication with qualified players will be done through Discord. We're going to setup a channel where you'll be able to ask questions, receive important announcements and communicate the day of the event.

We're very excited to host this event. Even if our weekly events are a thing of the past, this is an opportunity for us to thank all of you for your support over the past year and a half and make sure you play one of the most exciting event of your Magic career.
