Wizards of the Coast has decided to revamp the contents of its Play Boosters and Collector Boosters starting with Nauctis: The Sunken Realm, releasing February 5, 2027. Fortunately, Wizards made it clear that product prices will not be affected by these changes.
The goal behind these changes is clear: "Every booster you open should feel exciting and meaningful."
What's new:
-
Packs will offer more opportunities to open traditional foil Japan Showcase cards, and rare drop rates will increase.
-
Every Magic Multiverse set will now have God Packs. A God Pack is a rare booster in which every nonbasic card is a rare or mythic rare.
-
1 in every 1,000 Booster Packs will contain 14 rare or mythic rare cards:

-
The odds of opening a God Pack in Collector Boosters will be 1 in 300, and it will contain the following cards:

-
Play Boosters are officially getting a new name: they're now called Booster Packs.
What's leaving:
-
Foil commons and uncommons are being removed, and every pack will no longer be guaranteed to contain a foil card. This means any foil card you open in a Booster Pack will now be a rare or mythic rare.
-
Collector Boosters will lose 3 cards: 2 foil commons and 1 foil uncommon. However, some foil commons and uncommons will remain in Collector Boosters, since they won't be available in Booster Packs.
The article ends by letting players know that a Discord space has been set up for anyone who wants to join the discussion.
